We had an amazing meal here and we recommend it to anyone whilst in Oxford. The atmosphere and aroma were calling for us to sample whatever it had to offer. We found it to be exceptional!

Here's a pic of the original 14th Century vaulted ceiling of the Old Congregation House (built in 1320). What you see is the main serving area. This is an unusual sight (I borrowed this pic from their web page) because the place was, and reportedly is, continuously packed!
"Breathe in the historic atmosphere of our unique restaurant at the heart of the university city of Oxford. Enjoy healthy cooking using a wide range of seasonal, organic, and fair trade produce. Enjoy the historic surroundings of Radcliffe Square, at the heart of mediaeval Oxford, as you sup your tea alfresco in the gardens of the University Church, a green oasis in the heart of the city which furnishes our kitchen with the aromatic flavours of fresh rosemary, thyme, marjoram, mint, and sage."
Vaults & Garden Cafe'
We chose to eat in the garden, taking in the view of Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Library, Brasenose College, and All Souls College. K chose to sit with her back to this view, where, once again, burial sites shared the garden space.
