From there, we trained to Dover and absorbed Dover Castle. Upon heading back to Canterbury, we had our first fish 'n' chips dinner ~ yummy! For more vacation details, please click on Dave's link. In the meantime, here are some pics of our time together.
Above are two pics of a monument honoring those who "gave their lives for God, King, and Country in the Great War of 1914-1919" (aka WWI) with each person's name listed around the sides.
Dave's mum, Julie, stayed to talk with some young musicians. She was thrilled to hear her first "Cheers", "Cheerio", and "Goodaye" and had to tell them how delighted she was.
I love the way the street corners round about to the next street. If it wasn't raining, we would have sat here and enjoyed a warm cuppa!
Castle House B&B is where we rested and refuled. It was a lovely place situated across the street from Canterbury Castle. Inside the staircase of the castle, we could see the B&B.

You can see that the castle is in ruins, but they are taking great care to preserve it whilst allowing visitors to admire its history. It even has its own graveyard - see last picture.
M is in what used to be one of the circular staircases. You can see its location in the horizontal pic with M, C, and Q walking along the wooden path (made for easier access around the castle).
Aren't C and Q adorable climbing up to see how high they can get? They loved every second of their exploration!
I wonder how tall our past generation was. So many of the doorways are small, like the one you see Dave walking through in the center picture above.
Dave and his dad, Glen, had a "great" time minding low surprises. : )
